I regret to say that I’ve had to implement comment moderation on the site.
Not because of anything that you, my sweet readers, have done.
It’s the spammers.
So many of you have opted in for notification when there’s a new comment on posts that you’ve participated in that I’d rather not expose you to the nasty spam.
Until I get that fixed it just means that any comments you submit are held until I look at them. In most cases it shouldn’t be more than a couple of hours. Thanks for your patience.
UPDATE 1-8-07: Well, that didn’t take long to fix. I’ve installed a more secure form of CAPTCHA (that little string of letters and numbers you have to input with your comments) that should do the trick. Thanks again for you patience.

Awww, that’s a shame the spammers have become such a problem. :(
Do what you gotta do! We understand!
What blog software do you use? If they have an Akismet spam filter (I know wordpress does), I would highly recommend it. Doesn’t require a captcha, either (Maybe the first time you comment? I don’t remember). I’ve been using Akismet through WordPress for maybe 6 months. It’s stopped 900 spam comments, let two through, and mistakenly caught one real comment.
Sketching - oh, they sound delightful! And companies wonder what’s in a name?
Sera - luckily things seem to have turned around ... upgrades!
Jon - Expression Engine uses some other blacklist/whitelist stuff in combination with the CAPTCHA. Perhaps I’ll institute the “friends” list thing (kind of like registration) and dump the captcha at some point. Yeah, captcha is a pain but at least this new version is pretty easy to read.
