These curious little nougats studded with jelly have a selling point: they’re made with seaweed. According to the woman I met up with in the aisle of the Little Tokyo Market, if it’s from the sea, it’s good for you.
I’ve had these before. I picked them up from a local Asian Specialty supermarket. They look cute but were bland in flavor. The outside sugar coating gives them a lovely texture though!
Meticulously photographed and documented reviews of candy from around the world. And the occasional other sweet adventures. Open your mouth, expand your mind.

Commenting is not available in this channel entry. It’s something different. They look delicious!
Is there a picture of the wrapper? I’m in Japan and want to find and try this.
Carleigh - here’s what they look like inside their individual wrappers:

I may post a review of them in a week or so.
Well, unless you’re allergic to seaweed!
I have actually had something similar (looks exactly the same, but no seaweed). Super yummy
I just snagged these today, beautiful little things. Haven’t gotten around to trying them but they do look yummy.
Ok, just gave the yellow one a try. These remind me of fruit slices with dense marshmallow. They aren’t overpowering, just light, chewy, delicious.
They kinda remind me of something from the old willy wonka movie
