In my mind, there is no more perfect melding of chocolate and peanut butter than the Reese’s Miniature (yes, the minis are better than the full-sized cups). I do not pursue anything above that, but in the interest of fairness, I’m giving these Overload thingies a chance to prove themselves.
Overload is three peanut butter cups, each a slight variation on the tried and true original. One with balls of Butterfinger crisps tossed on top, another with some sort of fake m&ms (called ‘candies’) and the last with Buncha Crunch, which are just chocolate covered crisped rice like a Nestle Crunch bar.
First, when I pulled the tray out of the package, I could see that there was some sort of industrial accident. There were little ‘candies’ in ALL of the peanut butter cups and the ‘candies’ one had some buncha crunches in it. So much for segregation.
The chocolate is smooth and sweet, if perhaps a little more of it than a standard Reese’s cup. The peanut butter center is a little smoother than a Reese’s which is neither a good or bad thing, it just is. I kind of like a little grain to my nut butters, but that’s me. It was salty and very roasty tasting. The Butterfinger mixed in with that is a really good combo, a nice variation of smoothness, sweet, a bit chewy later with the Butterfinger and a lingering salty tone. The Buncha Crunch also has a nice texture to it, but in my mind it’s not quite enough crisp to make it through the cup. The ‘candies’ one is just kinda silly - is it the color that’s suppose to impress me or the texture of the candy shells? It’s by far the most chocolately, but the peanut butter part gets kind of lost without a texture to set it off.
These don’t even come close to most other peanut butter and chocolate products for me. The variety was, however, a welcome change when you’re buying a King Size item.
Rating: 5 out of 10 for ‘candies’ and Buncha Crunch and 6 out of 10 for the Butterfinger

Commenting is not available in this channel entry.Funny, when I first glanced at the post, I thought it was “Overlord” cups instead of “Overload” cups, haha! The variety does indeed look interesting, though they should probably just make each cup be a random assortment of butterfinger crisp balls, m&ms; and Buncha Crunchas…
I was not impressed at all with these. I don’t even think the candies one has PB, at least mine didn’t.
Really can’t even stand the smell of Buncha Crunch. Does drowning them a cup o’ chocolate make them better?
Another candy, thanks to your review, I won’t buy.
A public service, that’s what you are!
I think the Butterfinger ones are pretty good, and you’re absolutely right about the welcome variety in the king-size candy. Love the site; keep up the good work.
Thanks for all of your very hard work in testing all the candies out there. I myself dont prefer this one. It seems to appeal to a younger crowd though. In my opinion,,, nothing beats the white choco reeses cup. Keep em’ coming though.
I thought that the hundred grand candy bars were good no matter what that is in there.
I actually liked these peanut butter cups. My kids were fighting over the 2 other cups so I went out and bought another. Not looking to compare to Reese’s but I thought these were delicious and don’t quite get the criticism from the others posting here. I guess we all have different tastes.
I am not sure what the “agenda” is of this candy blogger, but I should have realized something was up when referring to these as “overload thingies.” I saw these at Hofstra University and my friends and I loved them. We didn’t find any “industrial accidents” described by the blogger. We bought both King size bars, “The original” with cookies and mini M&M’s, and the “made with Nestle’s” toppings. They were great and can’t wait to have more.
THIS IS DELICIOUS AND ANYONE WHO LIKES CHOCOLATE SHOULD EAT IT. EATTTTT ITTTTT!!!!!!!!!!
well i too like reerse p/b cups and agree the minis are very nice. its hard to get this sort of thing on the sunshine coast is australia, but have found a few this week i came across these overload cups we have the mini m&m ones with the choc chip cookie and chocolate bicky and must say really enjoyed them as well i would like to try the nestle onoes but dont like my chances
I’ve never had this variation. The one I’m familiar with is the “Candies” “Oreo Cookie” And a “Choc Chip Cookie” each one on top of a peanut butter cup.
Tasty and a fun treat.
