I haven’t the foggiest on the name on this one, so I’m gonna call these Chestnut Pocky and if anyone else knows what those alternating Japanese and French words add up to, please let me know. (I know that Mont Blanc means white mountain, but that’s not a flavor!)

This is Super Thick Pocky. There are two coatings, the bottom coat is a milky sweet, kinda caramelly coating. The zig-zaggy top coat is similar, but has more of a nutty taste to it, which I’m guessing is where the chestnut comes in. But after tasting it (well, by that I mean eating half the box) I checked with JBox which always has nice descriptions:
Here is the latest treat from the Glico people, a fresh new style of Pocky that is out of this world. The delicious crispy pretzel snack wrapped in milk chocolate and then decorated in gummy style chestnut-flavored chocolate, for a taste based on the French treat popular in Japan called Mont Blanc!
It’s been years since I’ve had chestnuts but I remember them being rather sweet and chewy, unlike other nuts.
These are rich and sweet and not as addictively snackable as many of the other Pocky that I’ve had. They’re nice and all, and maybe in a Pocky mix I’d find them a nice change, but I can’t give them the highest marks as a snack. But I can confirm that there are no hydrogenated fish oils in this ingredients list, so that’s a bonus.
(Sorry for any feed duplication today, I’ve been traveling and I scheduled these reviews to launch but something went screwy.)

Commenting is not available in this channel entry.I thought they were too sweet. Generally the double-dipped Pocky are too sweet for me. Also, I wish they tasted more like chestnuts.
Also, the squiggly mound pictured on the cover is a chestnut pastry called a “mont blanc.” They’re all over the place in Japan in autumn.
Torokeru just means like “melty”.
Montblanc is a name of cake which looks like the mountain in France. See photos at following link.

The cake is made from chestnut and cream. So for Japanese montblanc flavor means chestnut and cream.
I think I can give you some kind of help on what the name means. Decorer means decorated. it’s simple. haha…I duno though, maybe those don’t have a specific flavour other than the one you gave.
Mont Blanc is a french sweet that is basically a confection i believe..or cake that has a round meringue base, toppped with whipcream, which is then topped by sweet chesnut (sometimes with rum) paste. In japan though, instead of the meringue they subsututited the base with sponge cake. So bottom line….its a cake with sweet creamy chestnut paste
Hello,
does anybody know where i can order a christmas cake for this holidays called Mont Blanc? It’s a french Christmas cake made from chestnuts, cream and i think some chocolate.
If you know of someone or somewhere I could order this cake from; please let me know.
Many thanks
Hello! I’ve been looking everywhere to find the mont blanc dessert (monburan?) for a friend of mine and I have no where to order this cake…
Do you know of any places that might have it?
Your help will be deeply appreciated!
Thanks,
Anthony
When I was in Japan I was absolutely fascinated with these little Mont Blanc cakes. Unfortunately, I eventually tried one and was sorely disappointed. They are extremely sweet and kind of flavorless, and this from someone who likes chestnut. I’m not surprised the pocky flavor wasn’t great.
