My blogging buddy, Lisa, sent this to me. She didn’t pick it up in Japan, she got it in New York, which makes the trip it’s taken extra special.

They look like little incense cones, little hard cones covered in a salty, sour powder. I wasn’t quite sure what they were, as the package is in Japanese, but what I could glean from the package was that these were sour. (I’m not quite sure what the female schmoo thing is on the front, but she sure is cute.)
They smell like cola, which is an odd smell in and of itself, really. The gummy isn’t really gummy either, it’s a hard little piece that’s not quite hard enough to be considered hard candy. Pop one in your mouth and you pucker. There’s no way to not describe these as incredibly sour. The flavor of the sour is a bit lemony but a little salty too. Then that subsides and you get the cola flavor and a little hard gummy bit. Then you want another one. They took a little getting used to, but with a lot of the extreme candies, they’re rather addictive.
They remind me a lot of the So Wonderful Lemon Drops I tried months ago. I think I might pick up the grape ones sometime, but for now, cola is a great choice for a sour treat. I have to say that eating to many will eventually burn the tongue. And give you a tummy ache. But I’ve found that to be true with most foods.

Commenting is not available in this channel entry.yeah they have lots of the “super” candies, which are all sour. They have super cola and super strawberry versions of the lemon candy. Who knows what other flavors…
I love these in ume flavor. They’re in the shape of a little sakura blossom instead
The “Super” is a pun, actually. In Japanese the word for sour is suppai. The Japanese LOOOOOVE puns, so the fact the coating is what makes them “super” because they’re suppai. Very clever.
Those look fun! By the way, you should get your hands on some of the new cherry Hershey’s kisses if you haven’t already. They’re yummy!
They sounds pretty delicious… I wonder what pants that character on the front is wearing though… some kind of judo pants?
Bryan - what I found rather disturbing about the character on the package was that it seemed obvious that it’s a female ... and she has no top on.
Thanks Bruce! I had no idea why so many sour things were super until now.
My mouth is watering right now thinking about these again.
Nanette - I’m hoping to find a mix of the new kiss flavors (cuz there are so many!). I’m not fond of cherry though, so I might skip over those.
wow, these look awesome. i <3 cola candies!
The Lemon kicks are super-sour, which is great if you like sour hardish gummies. The Plum kicks, on the other hand, are really not pleasant.
I’ve only tried one kind. I’m not sure which flavor they are, but I haven’t been able to find them again to buy them. It seems J-List got rid of them? But they’re purple and come in a box. If someone can tell me where to find them again I’d really appreciate it.
Alissa - you might want to email J-List and ask them about it - they’ll probably know if they’re discontinued or if they’re just not carrying them anymore.
But I did see them on the Shigekix.com site (at least I think I did). So there’s hope!
