Chocolate oranges are a holiday favorite. We used to get them in our Christmas stocking when I was a kid, though not this brand. The chocolate orange is simply chocolate pieces shaped like orange segments assembled into a sphere. The Terry’s Chocolate Orange has a chocolate stem in the center and all the pieces are joined to it. They tell you to “whack and unwrap” to separate the pieces. (The ones I got as a kid had a plastic stem, so there was no need for whacking.)

The sphere is between the size of a handball and a tennis ball. The slices are textured to look like citrus fruit on one side, the other is smooth.

I’ve reviewed the Terry’s Chocolate Orange bar, and I find this chocolate to be similar. It’s not great quality, a little grainy and very sweet. The mint is quite overpowering in this version of Terry’s chocolate (just as I found Hershey’s Mint Mix).
It’s damn cute though and since it was half off, I don’t feel at all bad for plunking down $2 for it. $4 would be another matter.
Notes: This peppermint chocolate orange was made in Poland. Terry’s is credited with creating the first “Chocolate Orange” in 1932.

Commenting is not available in this channel entry.Chocolate oranges were always one of my favorites. I’ve never seen the plastic stem version, we whacked ours on the table, probably more than is required. I picked up a really good Pure Dark Chocolate With Orange bar from TJ’s a while back. It’s from Valor Chocolates, here’s a link
Yum!!!
The Peppermint chocolate is the best ever. If I catch it on sale, I have no problem buying 12 of them. They are a great after dinner snack and my husband loves it as well. Great smooth chocolate.
I really enjoy these when I can find them. I wish they were available all year round, but I guess I also wish they were 2 bucks!
I really wish that I could find the Peppermint Oranges at all where I live. My husband and I got one once and haven’t been able to find them again. Any ideas on where I can find them?? Any help would be greatly appreciated since I would love to get some for the Holiday.
We used to be able to buy these every year at xmas and it was a major tradition. For the past two years we havent been able to find them anywhere. We’re really bummed. But for those who need a choco peppermint fix. Lindt’s now has a dark chocolate peppermint that is an excellent match. Only downfall is that is a limited edition which means that it might not be back next year also.
Peppermint Orange is by far the best invention ever!!! It’s 10 times better than the chocolate orange (which I didn’t imagine was possible) and it lasts forever!!!!!
Kudos to Terrys!!!!

The only place I have seen the Peppermint Orange for sale is on a website called Sweetstall.com. But the shipping prices are outrageous, so make sure if you buy from them, you really want what you’re buying.
Up until the mid eighties, the (UK) Terry’s chocolate orange was entirely different, it used to be much much smoother, now it’s got a grainy cheap texture.I loved these but can’t bear how much they changed it now.
I love your Mint Terry Eggs please tell me how I can but some. Thanks.
