What I Want to SeeNow that I’m in the “press lounge” and have some internet access, I thought I’d backtrack for moment about what I’m planning on focusing on today. Monday was so energizing and exciting but it was also a great way to ease me into things. I got settled in and was able to go to three sessions and then the general welcome reception. I ran into some candy buddies (Chris from CandyWarehouse.com, his wife and two partners, Dave and Karl Hoff) and I think I made some new friends. As part of my press packet, I got an update on the new products being introduced at the Expo. Here are a few things I have my eye on: Botticelli Belgian Chocolate with Omega3s - called Choco-Omeg, they’re formulas and flavors that have dietary supplements added in without sacrificing taste. Ghirardelli Intense Dark Gourmet Bars - a 72% cacao bar and three new 60% cacao flavored bars called Citrus Sunset, Toffee Interlude and Espresso Escape. Jim Beam Chocolate Bourbon Fudge - yep, bourbon and fudge, what more do I need to say? Snickers and Snickers Almond are being given limited edition runs again in dark chocolate. Bubble Chocolate - aerated chocolate. It’s about time we had some here in the States! Au’Some Fruit Juice Sour String - super sour strings fortified with vitamin C and other supplements in an array of flavors and co-branded with “Florida Naturals (the orange juice people). Tung Toos - yes, you can give your tongue a tasty temporary tattoo. Candy Logs - compressed dextrose logs that you can build with. Flavors will include banana, strawberry, orange and blue raspberry. Crunchy Gummies from Albanese Confectioners - you’ve probably seen a version of these if you go to the candy stores in the mall that have the bulk bins. These will be made right here in the US and come in bear and worm shapes. Choco Rocks Gold Nuggets - candy coated chocolate that looks like rocks from Kimmie Candy. Hershey’s Sweet & Salty Granola Bars - I’ve been wondering why no one has a more savory snack bar. Hershey’s is introducing a bar with pretzels, peanuts, oats and crisped rice that’s salty and then dipped in chocolate. Honey Roasted Peanut Roca from the Almond Roca people, Brown & Haley. Snickers Xtreme Bars - this is a regular Snickers without the nougat, which as already debuted in the miniature variety pack this summer. It’ll come in full size bars as a limited edition product this fall. Stay tuned ... I’ll pick up samples and have more to report soon! POSTED BY Cybele AT 10:06 am

Commenting is not available in this channel entry.I really like the fruit juice sour string bc it has more of a natural dried fruit taste to it than the fruit rollups we have nowadays. Plus they have orange flavor which fruit rollup kicked out years and years ago (my favorite flavor!)
i wish they had a non-sour version so i could just enjoy the good fruit flavor.
The sour strings are sooo good. There is a non-sour version of the strings, sorta. They’re nuggets and actually have more fruit juice in them. It’s a shame the texture is slightly different.
I’ve had the sour strings, too! They were too sour for my kids (1 likes fruit leather, the other 2 don’t), so I ended up with all of them. And just the other day I found some chocolate covered orange bits - Brach’s “Orchard Fresh” (comes in orange and cherry, at least at the store where I was). The packaging led me to believe it was real orange, e.g. “read orange pieces covered in rich milk chocolate” but when I read the ingredients I saw that it’s some kind of orange+sugar concoction. Anyway, very tasty. Maybe you’ll encounter them at the expo!
And on the Ghiradelli Intense Dark Gourmet Bars ? I saw these at a convenience store near my office, but they were pricey. Then I saw them at Target, where they were much more reasonably priced, but the one I really wanted to try (Citrus Sunset) wasn’t available there!
I had that Hershey’s Sweet and Salty Granola thing this morning. Well… half of it. I couldn’t force any more of it down. Very not to my tastes. One cool thing about it - it features three different types of corn syrup!
Gotta say I’m curious about the Jim Beam Chocolate Bourbon Fudge, though.
I now have a mission. I must try dark chocolate Snickers. I hope they have them in minis as I never really need a whole snickers.
cheryl - you were right, the orange sour string was really tasty! The little Florida’s Naturals didn’t seem to come in any citrus flavors, only berries. Which was kind of funny since they were packed in little cartons like you get orange juice in!
Tricia - I wanted to try the orange sunset too! but they ran out of it on the floor for tasting. I did pick up the other two sample bars (dark and dark caramel).
william - I didn’t even see the Sweet & Salt Granola on the floor, but maybe I’ll pick one up at the store just to check.
I’ve got the Jim Beam fudge! I’ll cut it up for tasting next week!
g - I don’t know when they’re coming out with the dark snickers, but I really want a dark snickers almond.
Out of this list I missed two items: the Tung Toos and the dark snickers ... not too bad.
